Crab tonight on Camano Island

Eat Dungeness crab, cole slaw, baked beans, garlic bread and dessert from 4 to 7 tonight at the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road.

A string band will perform. Tickets are $17 at the door, $7 for children.

Scouts collecting coats for charity

Girl Scout Troop 2097 in Monroe is collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets for One Warm Coat.

Make donations through January to Starbucks, 18629 U.S. 2, in Monroe.

Gently used coats will be given to Eastside Baby Corner for distribution to families in need.

One Warm Coat began in 1992 and through the program, more than 400,000 coats have been given to families around the country.

Take a sewing or needlework class

The Washington State University Snohomish County Extension Clothing and Textile Advisors volunteer group offers sewing and needle arts classes, at 9 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., one Saturday a month through May at the WSU Extension offices, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Topics include machine quilting, crochet, zippers, reading knit and crochet patterns, pickets, hand applique, pattern fitting, silk dyeing, bindings and hand embroidery.

The fee is $10 per class and students provide their own tools. For more information, go to snohomish.wsu.edu/cta/cta.htm.

Practice English in Mukilteo

Adults who are learning to speak English as a second language can practice their skills at 7 p.m. Monday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo.

Volunteers with the Snohomish County Literacy Coalition are expected to be on hand to assist people during the event.
