See replica of world’s oldest rug
A replica of the oldest rug in the world, the Pazyryk carpet, is on display at Music for The Eyes, 314 First St., Langley, on Whidbey Island.
The rug was commissioned for the store and took three weavers four months to complete.
The oldest carpet in the world, discovered in Siberia in a frozen grave, probably buried in the 4th century B.C., is on display behind thick glass in a refrigerated case at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Not just pumpkins at Lynnwood show
Dozens of pieces of artwork, all featuring the color orange, are on display through mid-November at the Lynnwood Library Gallery at 19200 44th Ave. W.
The exhibit, called Orange Crush, is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Orange Crush is the library gallery’s fourth-annual jury-selected art exhibit. The 46 pieces of artwork include paintings, prints, textiles and ceramics.
Marysville needs volunteer coaches
The Marysville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteer coaches for its youth basketball league.
Coaches are sought for kids in first through eighth grades. The program focuses on fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship in a recreation league environment.
Practices begin the first week of December and league play concludes in March.
Volunteer packets are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the Marysville Parks and Recreation office, Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road.
