Merry Christmas. Here are some closures:
Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed.
Schools: Closed.
Post offices: Closed.
Commerce: Most businesses and banks are closed.
Transportation: Community Transit and Everett Transit are on Sunday schedules. Mukilteo-Clinton and Edmonds-Kingston ferries are on a holiday schedule.

Everett Fire Dept. seeks volunteers
The Everett Fire Department is offering an eight-week disaster preparedness course that will teach people skills that could help the community during an emergency.
The class meets Thursday evenings every week for three hours. The winter session runs from Jan. 24 to March 13. The class is free and open to people who live or work in the city. Applications are available at the Everett Emergency Management Office, 2801 Oakes Ave. The deadline for applications is Jan. 10.

Free movie at Senior Center
A free matinee movie and popcorn are planned at the Marysville Senior Center on Wednesday. The show begins at 1 p.m. at the center, 514 Delta Ave. in Comeford Park.

Explore the stars at planetarium
The Pacific Science Center’s traveling planetarium is scheduled to be at the Stanwood Library at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Inside an inflatable dome, participants can view the moon, stars and deep-space objects. The exhibit is best for children 5 and older.

Seniors get help writing memories
Senior citizens can participate in a four-week Memory Writing Session from 10 to 11 a.m. on Fridays in January at the Snohomish Senior Center, 1514 Pine Ave.
