Truck filled for Chehalis
The students, parents and staff of St. Mary Magdalen School in south Everett filled a donated truck Tuesday morning with items for the flood relief in Chehalis, including more than $4,000.
Students and parents packed the truck with cases of bottled water, toiletry items, food, new bedding, gently used clothing and even Christmas presents. Students brought little containers of coins and money plus toys. John and Bea Hanson organized the project.
Dog adoptions in Bothell
A Canine Christmas dog-adoption event is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Academy of Canine Behavior, 4705 240th St. SE in Bothell. There will be more than 100 dogs in need of good homes. Experienced shelter staff, volunteers and trainers will be on hand to help you find the right animal.
Trainers will be available to answer questions about any dog you are thinking of adopting. Shelter staff have evaluated each dog’s behavior and temperament. Adoption fees range from $150 to $250.
Take along your current dog to meet potential new family members.
Burn ban is off
The stage-one burn ban issued Sunday has been canceled, according to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.
Mill Creek will watch the kids
Parents can free themselves for some Christmas shopping this week by dropping off their kids at Mill Creek City Hall.
On Friday, the city plans a Parents’ Night Out, 6 to 9:30 p.m. at City Hall, 15728 Main St. There is no cost, but parents who participate are asked to bring a canned food donation.
The event, for children ages 4 and older, features games and other activities.

Blankets sought for those in need
The Marysville Community Food Bank is collecting blankets for families in need.
New or lightly used blankets and quilts may be dropped off from 8 to 11 a.m. every day except Wednesday and Sunday at the food bank, 6518 60th Drive NE.
