Pick your favorite holiday card

Who needs Hallmark when you have Photoshop?

A couple dozen families shared their homemade holiday cards with The Herald this season, showing how they put their own twist on the tradition. Readers can see the cards and vote for their favorite at www. heraldnet.com/ holidaycards. Click on your favorite card and then hit the submit button at the bottom of the screen. Voting runs today through 2 p.m. Monday.

We’ll display the cards in Tuesday’s Herald.

Naval Station donates gifts

Not only did the Navy League of the United States, Everett Council, and the Naval Station Everett Chaplains office, give gifts to sailors’ children, they tagged the gift with each sailor’s name.

Kathy Gambill, president of the Everett Council, said each child will receive $15 to $20 in gifts under their tree at home, from Mom, Dad or Santa.

Holidays delay trash pickup

The city of Marysville and Waste Management will continue to provide regular garbage pickup during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Collection will be delayed one day all week, each week. Waste Management will follow this same schedule for all-in-one recycle collection.

Holiday closures for Christmas

Merry Christmas. The holiday is Tuesday. Here are some resulting closures:

Government: Federal, state and local offices will be closed.

Schools: Closed.

Post offices: Closed.

Commerce: Most businesses and banks will be closed.

Transportation: Community Transit and Everett Transit are on Sunday schedules. Mukilteo-Clinton and Edmonds-Kingston state ferries are on a holiday schedule.

The Herald: Classified and reception are closed. For delivery, call 425-339-3200 from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Art work from around the region will be for sale from noon to 6 p.m. today during the annual Lowell Art Works holiday show at the Lowell Art Works gallery, 5205 S. Second Ave., Everett.
