Help send a sick girl to Disneyland

A fundraiser to send a Marysville girl with cystic fibrosis to Disneyland is set for 5 to 11 tonight at the Elks Lodge, 710 Samish Way, Bellingham.

Brenna Krug, 4, suffers from the disease, which affects the lungs and digestive system. Her family is financially unable to fulfill her wish for her fifth birthday: to go to Disneyland.

The fundraiser includes a spaghetti feed, auctions and dancing. Please donate $10 at the door.

You’d better know when to hold ‘em

The Lake Stevens-Granite Falls Rotary Club is hosting a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament at 1:30 today at Team Fitness, 1109 Frontier Circle E., Lake Stevens.

Proceeds will benefit local Rotary charities. A $100 contribution buys a seat in the tournament, food, beverages and a T-shirt. A $1,000 grand prize and other prizes are planned.

Beginners are welcome. Classes on how to play start at 11 a.m. and registration begins at noon. The club hopes the tournament will become an annual event.
