Camano Island ball set for Monday
The Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, plans to hold its Black and White Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight New Year’s Eve. The event is a fundraiser for the center.
The Camano Junction band is scheduled to perform.
Tickets are $15 each and include hot appetizers and a midnight champagne toast.

Chamber collecting shoe donations
New and slightly used children’s shoes can be donated this month through the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.
Shoes of all sizes can be dropped off through Monday at the chamber, 121 Fifth Ave. The chamber is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
The chamber is collecting donations for Clothes for Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides fall and spring wardrobes at no charge to low-income families in Snohomish County.
Clothes For Kids also provides backpacks and school supplies. The charity needs more donations to serve an expected 3,000 children and teens during the current school year.

Granite Falls: Preschool parade
A preschool parade with fun stories, songs, rhymes and crafts will be offered each Monday during January.
The program aims to promote literacy, and is tailored for children ages 3 to 5. The program runs from 11 to 11:45 a.m. each Monday.
Marysville TV show addresses hiring
Starting Wednesday, Marysville cable access station TV21 plans to air a recorded presentation about hiring military family members.
The presentation outlines the Military Family Friendly Employment Partnership initiative led by the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce.
The program will run daily at noon, 4, 7 and 10 p.m.
The job partnership seeks to encourage employers to consider hiring military spouses. The Tulalip Casino played host to and videotaped the presentation last month.
