Who can gather the most food?

Banks in Lake Stevens are getting ready to compete for who can make the biggest donation to the Lake Stevens Food Bank.

The Bank-to-Bank Food Drive continues through Aug. 31 at nine banks in the Lake Stevens area.

Collection bins will be placed in each of the bank’s lobbies and collected weekly. Cash donations will be collected as well.

The bank with the most items by weight, with $1 in cash equaling 1 pound of food, is the winner.

The winning bank will be given a banner to display, “showing their customers care the most,” according to organizer Tonya Christoffersen.

Correction

The name of a street on the Tulalip Indian Reservation was incorrectly identified in a story about homes on leased land that appeared on Page A1 on Wednesday. The street name is Mission Beach Walk, not Mission Beach Road. Homes on Mission Beach Road are on deeded land.
