Four hundred Snohomish County middle and high school students will get a chance to learn about higher education and career options at the 2007 Students of Color Career Conference on Friday at Everett Community College.
Experts in more than 20 fields will talk with students about career options and encourage them to continue their education. Students can select up to three career panels, attend the career and education fair, and pick up information about college admission and financial aid.
Four students will receive $1,000 college scholarships
The Students of Color Career Conference is part of Snohomish County’s weeklong remembrance of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Chaperones may apply for Japan trip
The Edmonds Sister City Commission is accepting applications from adults interested in leading the annual visit of students to Japan next summer.
Chaperones stay with a host family in Edmonds’ sister city of Hekinan. Travel costs are paid by the Sister City Commission.

Historical society meets Wednesday
The Snohomish Historical Society plans to meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waltz Building, 116 Ave. B, Snohomish.
The meeting will be about the state of the historic society, including a recap of the last couple of years and goal setting for this year. It’s also a chance for the general membership to express their thoughts, both positive and negative, on the direction the society is taking.
Open house for tax preparers
An open house for the United Way’s free tax preparation site is set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Boys &Girls Club, 2316 12th St., north Everett.
