Learn to protect and manage land
The state Department of Natural Resources and Washington State University’s Forestry Extension Office offer a nine-week forest stewardship class to help forest owners protect and manage their lands.
Sessions are planned for 6 p.m. Tuesdays starting Feb. 6 at the WSU Extension Complex, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
An all-day field session is planned for March 10.
Course topics will include: forest ecology, health, soils, inventory, wildlife management, site regeneration, special forest products, water-quality issues, forest practices regulations, incentive programs and more.
Participants will receive a Forest Stewardship Notebook, reference materials, maps and aerial photos of their property, and if desired, an individual on-site consultation from a professional forester or wildlife biologist.

Neighbors discuss baseball fields
Neighbors living near Lynnwood’s Lynndale Park are invited to attend a meeting about Pacific Little League’s use of the park’s athletic fields.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lynndale Elementary School Library, 7200 191st St. SW, Lynnwood.

Classes cover creative topics
The Monroe School District offers community classes throughout the year.
Sky Valley Community Schools offers classes on topics such as digital photography, computer programs, cooking, yoga and travel. Open enrollment classes are available in volleyball, basketball and belly dancing. Online classes also are available.
