To help at a mobile home park ravaged by flood waters, meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Everett Corps of the Salvation Army, 2525 Rucker Ave., Everett, or go to 13201 Elliott Road, Snohomish. Parking is limited.
Please bring work gloves, eye protection and wear clothing that fully covers your arms and legs. The work involves insulation. Tools and materials needed include saws and blades, boxes of nails, staple guns, and rakes.
Historical society postpones sale
Due to weather conditions, the Gold Bar Historical Society is postponing its Saturday bake sale. The bake sale will now be scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Gold Bar shelter along U.S. 2.
Seniors help fill hunger needs
Residents at Cascadian Place Retirement Residence in Everett plan to collect food from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Safeway, 4128 Rucker Ave., Everett. They are joining Holiday Hunger Aid-Driving Away Hunger.
Residents from Cascadian Place say they remember what it was like during the Depression – when food was short and families often went hungry – and want to help ensure families in the area have enough to eat.
Sultan Food Bank sells baked goods
The Sultan Food Bank offers its annual Christmas bake sale and raffle from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Sultan Winterfest. It will also accept donations of cash, food and gifts at Sultan High School, 13715 310th Ave. SE.
Annual Dickens Fair is Saturday
The Lake Stevens School District’s Community Education program plays host to the 20th annual Dickens Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Stevens High School cafeteria, 2908 113th Ave. NE.
Admission is a can of food or monetary donation for the Lake Stevens Food Bank.
More than 80 vendors, dressed in Victorian-era clothes, will sell crafts, with singing and entertainment. The fair is planned as a community event and all proceeds go to support the volunteer recognition evening in April.
