FYI

Join The Salvation Army’s effort to help a neighborhood clean up flood damage.

Meet at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at The Salvation Army, 2525 Rucker Ave., Everett, or at 8:30 a.m. at Evergreen Courthouse, 14414 179th Ave. SE, Monroe, to form carpools.

Volunteers will do all sorts of minor repairs at a mobile home park in Snohomish.

Helpers will be needed to entertain children, too.

Drop off blankets for the area’s needy

A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post blanket drive is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Fred Meyer, 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway, Everett.

Donate blankets for the Battered Women’s Shelter and Men’s Gospel Mission in Everett.

Gleaners need a new warehouse

Members of Cascade Gleaning Association pick up items including food and clothing from supermarkets, farms, businesses, manufacturers and restaurants so it can be cleaned and distributed to the needy.

Member families work three to five hours a week in exchange for food and other essential items. The program aims to encourage a strong work ethic among participants and also preserve their self- esteem.

The association needs a new distribution site, preferably within five miles of Everett. It would like a 1,000- to 1,200-square-foot trailer or building in a zoned commercial area with parking for four cars and room for a dumpster, preferably with free rent.

In exchange, the group will maintain the building and provide a portion of the glean.

The group is also open to other ideas. For more information, call Linda Savage, 425-335-1776.

Join Marysville’s Christmas plans

Volunteers are needed to help with Operation Marysville Community Christmas. Help is needed Saturday and Sunday, when volunteers will help sort food and fill holiday boxes. For more information, call 360-658-1054.
