FYI

They help others, and now they need help.

The Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross has an urgent need for donated storage space to accommodate emergency shelter startup kits.

Stored items will include 30 or more cots and blankets and other items essential to the opening of Red Cross emergency shelters during a disaster. The space must be secure, enclosed and accessible 24 hours a day.

According to executive director Chuck Morrison, his chapter is looking to expand the location of startup kits throughout the county so it can quickly open shelters when disaster strikes.

Storage space is needed in or close to Stanwood, Arlington, Marysville, Sultan, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood and Everett.

Businesses, schools, churches, government facilities and others with nonresidential buildings are asked to contact Morrison at 425-740-2323 or morrisonc@snohomish county.redcross.org.
