A new Christmas CD sung by Righteous Brother Bill Medley features a title song written for Camano Island resident Barb MacLaurin.
“Under One Roof” was written by her son, Tim Lee, who for the past 20 years has worked on keyboards and vocals and as musical director for the Righteous Brothers and Bill Medley.
Lee is an Everett native who graduated from Everett High School in 1968 and Everett Community College in 1970.
The album, available online or at Camano Island Coffee Roaster, includes songs by Paul Revere and the Raiders. The song about MacLaurin is about how a mother is never happier than when her family is under one roof. MacLaurin said it is especially true today with so many mothers wishing their military sons and daughters were home for the holidays.
Police on watch for drunken drivers
Tonight, police around Snohomish County will be cracking down on aggressive and drunken drivers as part of the annual Night of a 1,000 Stars – a statewide program geared to take dangerous drivers off the roads.
Last year, at least 275 arrests were made as part of the one-night event.
Christmas trees need daily water
The Lynnwood Fire Department reminds folks to water their Christmas tree every day until it goes to the curb.
Christmas trees account for 200 fires annually, resulting in an average of six deaths, 25 injuries and more than $6 million in property damage nationwide.
The number of house fires rises through December as trees lose moisture from lights and home heating.
It is recommended that folks keep the tree well watered with plain tap water.
Do not put sugar, aspirin or other chemicals in the water in an attempt to make the tree last longer. That can actually inhibit the tree’s intake of water.
