Five local bands will perform a benefit concert for Lakewood High School student Meggi Ward, who was hurt in a crash May 13.
Ward, 17, remains at a care facility in Woodinville. Proceeds will benefit a medical and college fund for Ward, as well as the Karlie Kaska Scholarship Fund. Kaska, 17, was killed in the crash.
The concert will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 5 at Lakewood High School, 17023 11th Ave. SE, Arlington. Donations will be taken at the door. There also will be a raffle and food for sale.
Two blood drives planned this week
The Puget Sound Blood Center reports that it is critically short of some types of blood.
Two blood drives have been scheduled in the area to help restore supplies. Today’s event, in Oak Harbor, will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3:30 p.m. at Wal-Mart, 1250 SW Erie St. Tuesday’s blood drive, in Mill Creek, will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the Safeway store at 13314 Bothell-Everett Highway.

Glass mosaics to be displayed in Edmonds
An exhibit of glass mosaics by Cassandria Blackmore is planned at Edmonds’ Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., in August.
To make a traditional mosaic, an artist uses pieces of colored glass to create an image. Blackmore’s work is reverse painted, using the back of the glass.
Blackmore’s work is being exhibited nationwide. She maintains a showroom in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and a studio in Duvall. Call 425-771-0230.
Rehabilitation center plans festival
The Delta Rehabilitation Center in Snohomish will hold its annual summer festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1705 Terrace Ave.
The free festival will feature a petting zoo, clowns, carnival games and other activities.
Horse rescue group to hold open house
Chez Chevaux, a nonprofit group in Monroe that rescues and retrains thoroughbred horses, will hold an open house and fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 12404 Woods Lake Road.
Attendees can meet the horses, view equine art by Jayne Wozow, listen to music by Branden Roman and enjoy light refreshments.
