She made it. Lisa Smith-Batchen, the Idaho woman who set out to run nearly 300 miles from the lowest point in the continental United States to the highest point, completed the trek in about 61/2 days.

Supported by her sister, Julie Gross of Lake Stevens, Smith-Batchen ran and walked from California’s Death Valley to the summit of Mount Whitney and back again. No stranger to extreme sports, Smith-Batchen took on the feat to raise money for AIDS orphans in Africa.

We wrote about the quest July 24. Learn more about Smith-Batchen’s journey at http://www.lisasmith batchen.com.

Stephen, 11, is a Hawks fan, even though he lives in Georgia. Last year, the Seahawks picked up Georgia Bulldogs quarterback David Greene with the 85th pick in the NFL Draft.

Ever since that day, Stephen has been a diehard Hawks fan. Stephen, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, will meet the team today, then have dinner with his new friends at training camp in Cheney.
