Help Lions Clubs’ White Cane drive
Members of local Lions Clubs will be out Friday and Saturday collecting donations during the White Cane Days drive.
The 37th annual spring fundraiser helps thousands of kids in the Pacific Northwest through the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing. In 2005, more than 100,000 children were provided sight and hearing services at no cost.
Since 1969, the Eye Bank has provided more than 28,000 corneas for sight-restoring transplants, provided funds for eye surgery for those in need, and last year screened thousands of children and adults for eye health and other conditions such as diabetes, a major cause of blindness.
The foundation also helps sight and hearing research.
This year, Lions will also accept donations of used eyeglasses and hearing aids for recycling.
