As Independence Day nears, Community Transit reminds passengers that fireworks of any kind are not allowed on the agency’s buses or property, such as park-and-ride lots.
Even “Safe and Sane” fireworks sold in some communities can create a safety hazard for passengers, said Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Rochon, head of the agency’s transit police unit.
“It is important to provide passengers with a safe, secure trip for everyone who uses Community Transit buses, and we ask that all passengers respect their fellow bus riders by not bringing fireworks on board,” Rochon said.
In addition to fireworks, Community Transit does not allow the following items on buses:
* Fuels such as gasoline, diesel and propane, or containers that once carried fuels.
* Hazardous chemicals.
* Explosives.
* Illegal weapons.
As we mentioned in our Religion calendar, Bishop Joshua H.K. Banda recently spoke at Cascade Community Church in Monroe.
More than $8,000 was raised to help African children through the Lazarus Project Orphan Fund.
Banda is the second-highest bishop in Africa and lives in Zambia. His services are broadcast all over Europe and across most of Africa.
Ambassador John Bruton, the European Union’s envoy to the United States, will discuss technology, trade and transatlantic relationships at 7 tonight in the North Creek Cafe on the campus of Cascadia Community College and the University of Washington’s Bothell campus, 18325 Campus Way NE.
All are welcome at the free event.
