Another mudslide has knocked out Sounder and Amtrak service between Everett and Seattle at least until Thursday morning.

The newest mudslide occurred at 6:30 Monday night. And because passenger rail must be suspended for 48 hours after a mudslide is discovered, service cannot resume until Thursday morning, said Sounder Transit spokesman Lee Somerstein.

Somerstein said commuters should continue checking the Web site, www.soundtransit. org, for any updates, and that Sound Transit continues to run extra buses to carry its 300-plus commuters.

“This is very unusual circumstances,” Somerstein said. “We hope to return to normal service soon.”

Learn how to feed wild birds

Join a Snohomish County park ranger for a class about birds, feeders and seeds.

Spend time in a classroom with slides, video and hands-on demonstrations. Learn how to match seed and feeders to attract different birds, save money and minimize waste.

Participants will make and take home a suet cake and meet a live bird of prey.

The class is at 7 p.m. Friday at the new office and auditorium at Willis Tucker Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish.

Tickets are $5 or $15 for a family. For more information, call Flowing Lake County Park at 360-568-2274.

GroundFrog Day coming Thursday

GroundFrog Day will get hopping from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at the corner of Avenue A and First Street downtown in Snohomish.

The event will feature a weather-forecasting frog, music and activities for children, including a coloring contest. The frog, Snohomish Slew, may also predict the winner of Super Bowl XL.
