Edmonds Community College and Central Washington University will host an appearance by Martin Luther King III at 7 p.m. Monday at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.
A son of the civil rights leader, King is a human rights advocate, community activist and political leader who speaks about nonviolent conflict resolution.

Relay for Life team will form tonight
A kickoff event to form a team for Relay for Life, the annual American Cancer Society fundraiser, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Monte Cristo Room at The Everett Clinic’s Gunderson Building, 3927 Rucker Ave., Everett.

Woodland Park Zoo closes pony ring
Woodland Park Zoo’s ponies are getting old, so the zoo will not operate its pony ring this spring and summer, and will not offer pony rides until a new facility can be built.
The zoo has had pony rides since 1919.
Miniature horses will still be available for children to pet at the Family Farm section.

Bingo benefit for Silvana firefighters
Snohomish County Fire District 19’s Cinder-Ellas group will have a benefit bingo night at 7 p.m. Saturday at Viking Hall, 1331 Pioneer Highway, Silvana.
Door prizes will be given out and snacks will be available. Proceeds support the volunteer fire department.
