FYI

Watch for nighttime rolling slowdowns on I-5 in north Everett all next week as the state Department of Transportation continues with its freeway widening project.

Northbound traffic will be slowed at the Broadway exit so state workers can swing concrete girders into place on the new right-hand exit. Slowdowns will occur in the southbound lanes at near the same location so traffic lanes can be shifted.

State Patrol troopers will slow traffic to about 15 mph, giving workers a few minutes with no traffic on the highway, said Victoria Tobin, a Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

The rolling slowdowns will occur between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. each night.

Tobin said the northbound slowdowns could delay drivers by about 15 minutes, adding that there could be four slowdowns each night. There will only be one southbound slow down per night, and traffic should only be delayed by five minutes.
