The season of giving is upon us. So many are helped this time of year. And so many are grateful. We’d like to hear from you if you are one of these people who have been helped by local charity, food bank or other agency.
Did you suffer through a layoff and need some extra food to get you by? Were you a single mom living in a shelter who wanted Christmas presents for your children? Were you temporarily homeless and needed a warm place to sleep?
If you would like to share your story, call Herald assistant city editor Theresa Goffredo at 425-339-3097 or e-mail her at tgoffredo @heraldnet.com.

Are you ready for a fire emergency?
October is Fire Safety Month. The American Red Cross offers safety tips:
* Install a smoke alarm outside each sleeping area and on each home level.
* If people sleep with doors closed, install smoke alarms inside sleeping areas, too.
* Check smoke alarms regularly, and replace all batteries twice a year.
* Vacuum cobwebs and dust away from your smoke alarms monthly.
* Replace alarms every 10 years.
* Keep fire extinguishers handy and know how to use them.
* Keep a flashlight and sturdy shoes next to your bed.
* Have your kids meet a firefighter in their gear so they know what they will look like during a fire and won’t be scared. We’ll share more tips Monday.
