For the first time in its 70-year history, the Everett Symphony has realized its dream of having a permanent home.
The symphony’s new headquarters at 2710 Colby Ave. in Everett incorporates ticket sales, administrative functions, orchestra rehearsals, special events, orchestra equipment storage and a music library in a renovated 1930s-era building.
The symphony will have an open house from 1 to 7 p.m. today. Light refreshments will be served.
Join Lynnwood’s winter celebration
The 10th annual Civic Lights Winter Celebration will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Lynnwood Civic Center, 19000 44th Ave. W.
The free celebration features outdoor lighting and decorations, photos with Santa, entertainment, an arts workshop, a polar bear swim and a snow play area.
There will be free activities and entertainment at the recreation center, council chambers, library and fire station. Bring donations for the food bank.

Program on human rights in Bothell
The Cascadia Community College Global Human Rights Alliance will present a symposium, “Human Rights Through the Lens of Disaster,” from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Cascadia and University of Washington, Bothell campus, UWB Building 2, Room 005, 18345 Campus Way NE, Bothell. Community service agencies will be represented.
