People in Snohomish County are likely to pay extra attention to emergency drills after the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
A statewide earthquake drill scheduled for 10:45 a.m. today will include a test of the tsunami warning system on the Pacific Coast.
The state Emergency Management Division drill will begin with a statewide Emergency Alert System message over radio and television stations with instructions on what to do in the event of an earthquake.
Special Olympics total is $90,000
The Everett Police Department and the Special Olympics raised $3,000 during August’s Tip a Cop event at Red Robin restaurants for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
Police officers overall collected more than $90,000 for training and competition programs for more than 7,000 Special Olympics athletes in Washington state.
WSU enrollment a record 23,330
Washington State University reported record fall semester enrollment Tuesday, with 23,330 students at WSU’s four campuses – a 0.9 percent increase over fall 2004.
The numbers include 2,885 freshmen at the Pullman campus. The average high school grade point average of the incoming Pullman freshmen was 3.45, with 38.6 percent carrying a GPA of 3.6 or more.
