Dan Kraus of Everett won the International Society of Arboriculture’s 29th International Tree Climbing Championship last weekend in Nashville, Tenn.

Kraus, 38, was a nine-time Pacific Northwest champion, but this is his first win at the international level. The event featured about 50 climbers from around the world who performed six climbs to test their ability to maneuver in a tree while performing work-related tasks.
Traveling wall comes to Tulalip
One of the traveling Vietnam War Memorial walls will be shown Aug. 18-21 in Tulalip. Organizers plan to announce the time and location later this week.
Edgewater Beach closed two days
Edgewater Beach, located on the east end of the Mukilteo Tank Farm site, will be closed Wednesday and Thursday for construction.
Volunteers needed for Robe work party
A work party on the South Fork Stillaguamish River, east of Granite Falls, is planned for Saturday.
Wade in the river, then work for two hours. Lunch will be provided.
Work will include removing Scotch broom, an invasive weed, growing on a gravel bar.

Lake Stevens Senior Center needs small items (no clothing, electronics or furniture) for a garage sale in September.
Donations can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and noon on Friday and on Aug. 26 at the Senior Community Center, located at 1814 Main St.
