Friends and family will gather tonight to honor Cory W. Jackson, 19, who died Dec. 23, 2007, following a car accident the day before.
Bring a candle to the gathering at 10 tonight at Cascade Elementary School, 5200 100th St. NE in Marysville, where the accident happened.
Jackson, 19, of Stanwood, was born in Everett.

PAWS seeks community heroes
The Progressive Animal Welfare Society in Lynnwood seeks nominations of local youths who have shown outstanding compassion toward animals.
Nominate them for the organization’s fourth annual Youth Helping Animals Award.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 2.
Last year’s recipients were 12-year-olds Audrey Long and Theresa Edwards, honored for speaking out against puppy mills.
Nominations may come from any community member who wants to honor the youth or the youth’s project.

Donate clothes at Everett libraries
The Everett Public Library is collecting mittens, gloves, hats and scarves through the end of the year for residents of local homeless and aid shelters.
All donations should be new items. Donations will be displayed at the Giving Tree at the library’s main branch.
Donations are being accepted at the main branch at 2702 Hoyt Ave. in downtown Everett and at the Evergreen Branch at 9512 Evergreen Way in south Everett. Hours for donations are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
