The Apple Health Bus, part of an effort to enroll uninsured children in state- sponsored health coverage, is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Everett Memorial Stadium, 3900 Broadway.
According to the state Department of Social and Health Services, about 75,000 Washington children have no health insurance. An estimated 5,000 live in Snohomish County. Many families don’t know they can qualify for state medical assistance under the Apple Health program.

Food bank seeks building donations
The Marysville Community Food Bank seeks donations to complete its new building.
The food bank is still about $100,000 short of raising the money it needs to pay for its $925,000 building under construction on 88th Street NE near State Avenue.
The food bank is currently at 6518 60th Drive NE, on YMCA property. The YMCA needs the space, food bank director Joyce Zeigen said.
In addition to seeking help from the community, the food bank is looking for donations from grants and other sources.
The food bank is also seeking volunteers to work shifts in ÂSeptember.

Beachcombers, birders needed
The Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team needs volunteers to count and identify birds that wash ashore.
The survey team conducts a citizen science project that collects data on the status and trends of coastal resources.
Volunteers are asked to commit to surveying a specific beach each month.
For those who are interested in helping, the organization has scheduled a training session for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW.
