Anyone with property that has been lost or damaged because of recent flooding should file a claim with Snohomish County’s Emergency Operations Center.
The loss or damage of houses, business structures and other private property could mean federal dollars to help rebuild. Compensation for sheds, garages and other outbuildings won’t be included, but farmers and other business owners might be able to file for money to rebuild those structures if they are integral to their livelihoods.
Snohomish County officials want to know of all damage to property, regardless of whether federal emergency funding will cover it.

Garbage rate hike vote in Sultan
People living in Sultan may pay 20 percent more for garbage services.
The City Council is expected to vote on an interim rate hike Thursday. If approved, the new rates would take effect in February and show up on customers’ bills March 1.
The cost for one-can-a-week service would grow by $3.10, to $18.60 from $15.50.
Many factors are behind the proposed increase, officials said.
The rate hike would remain until a rate study is finished later this year.
Digital TV test planned
Television viewers can check their sets Feb. 10 to see if they are ready for the federally mandated switch from analog to digital broadcasts.
At 5:28 p.m., stations throughout the area will turn off their analog transmitters for one minute.
If a TV set isn’t ready for the switch, service will be interrupted. Viewers will see something like white noise with static, color bars or warning text. Those viewers can check online at www.dtvanswers.com or call 888-DTV-2009 for help.
The switch to digital takes place Feb. 17.
