Children who depend on the meal program offered at three schools in the Edmonds School District can still have breakfast and lunch during the summer.
The district is offering free meals at Cedar Valley Community School, College Place Elementary and Lynnwood Elementary this summer through funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Meals are available free to all children older than 1 and younger than 19. The program began last week and runs through Aug. 3, the same dates as the district’s summer school program.
Breakfast is provided at Cedar Valley from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Breakfast at Lynnwood Elementary is available from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday and at College Place Elementary from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at Cedar Valley. It will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday at College Place and Lynnwood elementary schools.
Cedar Valley Community School is at 19200 56th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. College Place Elementary is at 20401 76th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Lynnwood Elementary is at 18638 44th Ave. W. in Lynnwood.

Students can apply for August science camp
Everett Community College is hosting a free, weeklong science and engineering camp for students entering the seventh through ninth grades.
Two sessions of IDEAS, Increasing Diversity in Engineering And Science, camp will be offered. The first is Aug. 13 through 7. The second is Aug. 20 through 24.
The camp is designed to introduce minority students and girls to careers in science and engineering.
Students will be taught by EvCC instructors and scientists. At the camp, they’ll learn about science and business innovation, go on a marine biology field trip, build rockets and bridges and do other educational activities.
The camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch and supplies provided. No math or science prerequisites are required.
The camp, in its fifth year, is sponsored by the college, the YMCA of Snohomish County Minority Achievers Program and a major contribution from the Boeing Co.

Teachers can add lessons on water through class
The Snohomish County PUD will offer a three-day workshop in August for teachers interested in adding lessons about water to their curriculum.
The workshop offers hands-on classroom activities and field experience.
Teachers can learn how to test water quality from a stream and analyze local water issues as well as ways to lead students through projects within their community.
The city of Everett, Snohomish County Surface Water Management Division and Snohomish County PUD are co-sponsors of the class.
The registration fee is $25 and credits are available through Seattle Pacific University for $80.
