The Marysville School District will have new text books available for public inspection at the district service center through July 19.
The books, recommended by the district’s Instructional Materials and Curriculum Committee, can be examined from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each week day.
The books are “College Algebra; The Language of Composition;” “Rules for Writers; the Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature” and “Business Plan Project Workbook.”
Public comment on the proposed materials adoption is welcomed. Written comments can be addressed to the Gail Miller, Assistant Superintendent, 4220 80th St. NE, Marysville, WA 98270.
Comments will be forwarded to the Instructional Materials and Curriculum Committee and the Marysville School Board.
Changes at the helm in Northshore schools
Students at several Northshore School District elementary schools will be greeted by new principals in the fall, although most have worked in the district before.
At Crystal Springs Elementary in Bothell, Diane Goodwin was hired as the school’s new principal. She was principal at Sunset Elementary in the Shoreline School District.
At Maywood Hills Elementary in Bothell, David Hoffman will transfer from East Ridge Elementary in Woodinville to succeed Kelly Aramaki, who left to become principal at the John Stanford International School in Seattle.
At East Ridge Elementary, Stacey Murphy will transfer from Westhill Elementary in Bothell.
At Westhill, Anne Cullum will transfer from Fernwood Elementary in Bothell.
Fernwood’s new principal will be Lew Dickert, who is transferring from Wellington Elementary in Woodinville.
And at Wellington, Scott Farquhar will come out of retirement to lead the school during the next year while a search for a new principal is conducted.
Heritage gets familiar face to lead the school
Martha Fulton, who took over Tulalip Heritage High School on an interim basis last January, has been hired as the school’s principal.
She replaced Yvonne Ryans, who took a job with the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Three local seats on ballot for ESD board
Terms for three local members of the Educational Service District 189 Board of Directors are expiring.
Interested candidates are invited to apply for an October election.
The ESD serves 35 school districts and several private schools in Snohomish, Island, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom counties.
ESD board members serve four-year terms and are elected by the members of local district school boards.
Declaration of candidacy forms may be obtained after Aug. 20 from the state superintendent’s office – call 360-725-6133 – or any ESD office.
Declarations of candidacy and optional biographical data must be filed with the state administrative resources office between Sept. 1 and Sept. 16. Voting by ballot will take place Oct. 1-16.
