Construction of Monroe High School’s new stadium has been delayed by a month after a drawn-out review process.
An engineering review of the design for bleachers had to be done by an out-of-state consultant, who came up with a long list of questions for architects.
“In the end, it was resolved. The plan didn’t change. The review just took twice as long as we thought it would,” said Rosemary O’Neil, Monroe School District spokeswoman.
The district expects the bleachers to be delivered by August. They take three to four weeks to install.
Monroe High School had hoped to open the football season in the new stadium. “That may or may not be able to happen,” O’Neil said.
The first football game is Sept. 2, with practices starting Aug. 17. Classes start Sept. 7.
