SEATTLE — Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was wounded three years ago in Tucson, spoke in Seattle Wednesday as part of a cross-country tour to promote gun control.
She appeared at a panel discussion on reducing gun violence against women. She was joined by advocates for domestic violence survivors. Giffords has previously spoke in favor of Washington proposed new gun law that would expand background checks.
Gifford’s nine-state tour started more than a week ago in Maine where she advocated tougher laws to protect women from stalkers and domestic violence.
Her gun safety advocacy group, Americans for Responsible Solutions, calls guns and domestic violence “a lethal mix.” It says abuse victims are five times more likely to be killed if the aggressor has access to a gun.
