MARYSVILLE – A natural gas leak closed down parts of State Avenue this morning.
The street was closed from Grove Street to 10th Street after a leak was detected about 7:55 a.m., according to Marysville fire spokesman Nathan Trauernicht.
Firefighters found a strong smell of natural gas when they arrived. No evacuations were ordered but no one was allowed to enter the area, Trauernicht said.
A crew was able to repair the leak and State Avenue was reopened after 30 minutes. Ninth and 10th streets remained closed while firefighters inspected the air quality at businesses nearby. It is unclear what caused the leak.
