LAKE STEVENS — Classrooms were emptied at Lake Stevens High School on Thursday morning after students and staff reported a gas odor in a building on the north end of the campus, officials said.
Snohomish County Fire District 8, maintenance staff and Puget Sound Energy found no signs of a gas leak, Lake Stevens School District spokeswoman Arlene Hulten said.
After checking the buildings, firefighters allowed students to go to the cafeteria and gym while the rest of the campus was inspected, Hulten said.
The smell was first reported around 8:30 a.m.
By about 9:40 p.m., fire and utility crews had inspected all the buildings and let students return to their classrooms.
