STUTTGART, Germany — German authorities are investigating the father of a teenager who killed 15 people in a shooting spree because the gun used by the teen allegedly belonged to the father.
Police spokesman Klaus Hinderer says Stuttgart prosecutors are considering whether the father of 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer can be charged with involuntary manslaughter.
The father’s name has not been released. Prosecutors were not immediately available for comment.
Kretschmer killed nine students, three teachers and three others before taking his own life last week.
Authorities say he used a 9mm Beretta pistol kept unsecured in his father’s bedroom in violation of German law. The father’s other 14 firearms were properly secured.
