MARYSVILLE — A man suffered minor injuries Thursday night after a garage fire in the Getchell area.
The fire was reported around 7 p.m. in the 8800 block of 132nd Street NE, said Travis Hots, fire chief at Snohomish County Fire District 22 in Getchell.
A detached garage was in flames and starting to collapse when crews arrived, Hots said. A man living in the garage tried to put out the fire. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The garage was destroyed, an estimated $50,000 loss, Hots said.
Crews from Granite Falls, Lake Stevens, Marysville and Arlington also responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Hots reminded people that in the event of a house fire you should leave immediately and call 911.
