NEW YORK — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says he isn’t running for political office next year so that he can concentrate on his lucrative law and consulting businesses.
Giuliani says his businesses have “significant commitments” for next year that would make it impossible for him to run for either governor or the U.S. Senate.
Giuliani spoke at a news conference in Manhattan to endorse former U.S. Rep. Rick Lazio in the governor’s race. He told WABC-TV earlier today that he would not go into politics this year.
His most recent foray into politics ended with a stinging loss to John McCain in the race for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.
