GOLD BAR — A 63-year-old man was killed around midnight Monday after his car left U.S. 2, struck a guardrail and caught fire.
A red Pontiac Grand Prix was going east on the highway about six miles east of Gold Bar when the driver apparently lost control on a curve, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver was identified as Charles Baughn, of Gold Bar. He died at the scene.
No other cars were involved and no other injuries were reported.
The accident happened just before midnight. The car was totaled and impounded. The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
