Former Vice President Al Gore will join Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., in Seattle on the campaign trail today, the first of four prominent Democrats coming to the state on her behalf this week.
Cantwell is seeking re-election to a second term in the U.S. Senate. She faces four opponents: Republican Mike McGavick, Libertarian Bruce Guthrie, Green Party candidate Aaron Dixon and independent Robin Adair.
Today at 10:15 a.m., Gore will talk about halting global warming and building an industry around alternative energy at Seattle University.
On Thursday, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., who said this week he is considering a run for president in 2008, will headline at 10:30 a.m. event at Bellevue Community College.
Joining Obama and Cantwell will be Darcy Burner, the Democratic challenging Republican Rep. Dave Reichert in the 8th Congressional District.
On Saturday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will attend a fundraiser for Cantwell in Seattle.
And on Sunday, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa will campaign with Cantwell in Spokane, where the focus is likely to be on agriculture and trade.
