GRANITE FALLS — A crash that took the life of a Granite Falls teacher in September remains under investigation.
Suzy Armstrong, 52, was driving home from Monte Cristo Elementary School on Sept. 15. She was on Jordan Road when her Suburu was struck head-on by a Ford Explorer.
Armstrong died a few days later. The man driving the Explorer was not seriously injured.
The crash is being investigated as a possible vehicular homicide, Snohomish County sheriff’s bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said Wednesday. Detectives have not made an arrest.
They need to wrap up their investigation and forward the case to prosecutors, who will decide whether to file charges, Prentiss said. They want to make sure the investigation is thorough, so prosecutors can make an appropriate charging decision.
In general, vehicular homicides are complex cases that take months to resolve. Detectives must wait for laboratory test results and conduct complicated mathematical equations in reconstructing the crash.
