GRANITE FALLS — The Granite Falls Fire Department holds its annual holiday open house today to give away toys to families in need.
The open house is 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Station 87, 116 S. Granite Ave.
Any family that lives within the fire department district is welcome, Fire Commissioner Bill Gillam said.
Officials recommend that children not attend so the gifts can be wrapped later and be a surprise on Christmas.
The district raised $8,000 this year to purchase toys, Gillam said.
“This year we especially expect a good turnout, given the tough economy,” he said.
