GRANITE FALLS – Firefighters hope to bring the Jordan Wall fire near Granite Falls under control today, fire officials said Wednesday.
The fire had grown to about 30 acres by Wednesday afternoon, said Candace Johnson, a state Department of Natural Resources fire information officer. A fire line had been established around about 90 percent of the blaze.
“We’re making good progress,” Johnson said.
Fire investigators are still probing the cause of the blaze, which started Monday, Johnson said. Investigators suspect the wildfire was caused by people, she said.
The fire threatened one cabin Tuesday, but did not burn it, Johnson said. No homes were in danger as of Wednesday evening, she said.
Four crews are fighting the blaze on the ground, working on spot fires. Three helicopters also are dumping water on the fire from the air.
Nearby residents should expect to see smoke for several days as the fire burns inside the fire line, Johnson said.
Anyone with information about the cause of the fire is asked to call 360-856-3500.
