EPHRATA — The Grant County sheriff’s office says two deputies were splashed with muriatic acid as they were arresting a domestic violence suspect in Soap Lake.
A woman had called for help Thursday night, saying her 38-year-old son hit her in the back with a drinking glass. The man barricaded himself in a shed when deputies arrived and splashed them with a jug of the acid, which is used as a stone and tile cleaner.
The deputies were treated at a Moses Lake hospital for chemical burns to the face. The man was treated at an Ephrata hospital and jailed for investigation of assault.
