CLARKSTON — Fire crews have controlled a grass and brush fire that burned five or six outbuildings and several vehicles Monday on the west end of Clarkston.
The Lewiston, Idaho, Tribune says two Asotin County firefighters were taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and minor burns.
The fire started early Monday afternoon and managed to grow to at least 40 acres with the aid of winds gusting to 40 mph. A number of homes were threatened but firefighters were able to protect them.
Fire crews had the blaze contained by about 5 p.m. Monday.
Asotin County Fire Chief Noel Hardin says investigators are looking at fireworks as a possible cause.
