Gov. Chris Gregoire just wrapped up a conference call with reporters about the meeting she and other governors held today with President-elect Obama.
At the end, I asked if the incoming president offered her a position in his Cabinet or somewhere on his team. She has said before she wasn’t interested but it never hurts to ask again.
“I have declined,” she said, seconds before the call ended.
What? What job did he offer?
Pearse Edwards, her spokesman, quickly clarified she has not been formally offered any positions in the administration.
Gregoire said she wants to see someone from this state hired on by the president-elect – though she didn’t drop any names.
“I do think we ought to have one or more people from Washington in the administration,” she said.
U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee is one name that comes to mind as I note in this previous post on the subject.
