Snohomish County will have another eight weeks of wet winter.
And the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl.
So goes the prophecy of Snohomish Slew, the resident groundfrog of Snohomish.
Slew, a not-quite fully grown bullfrog, issued his prediction after he did not see his shadow at the citys inaugural Groundfrog Day event this morning.
Eight more weeks of foggy, soggy weather is foretold, said Wally Walsh, relaying the whispered message from the adolescent amphibian.
Slew’s good news about Sunday’s football game drew cheers from the crowd of about 200 people.
Snohomish Slew has predicted the Seattle Seahawks will win the Super Bowl, Walsh announced.
Snohomish Mayor Randy Hamlin has a bet with Mayor Jim Wehrle of Punxsatawney, Penn., on the outcome of the Super Bowl between the Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The mayors each put up a basket of local treats, with details yet to come.
Punxsatawney is the home of Punxsatawney Phil, the famous weather predicting groundhog. Earlier today, Punxsatawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter.
