Group targets people who seek sex online while at work

SEATTLE — A new public-private partnership in King County targets people who solicit sex online while on the job.

The BEST Employers Alliance, created by local nonprofit Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST), was announced Tuesday.

The Seattle Times reported that alliance employers will block websites where sex is advertised, update personnel policies and make it clear to employees that sex buying won’t be tolerated.

King County and the city of Seattle are founding members of the group along with 16 other government and corporate employers that have a combined workforce of over 125,000 people.

King County prosecutors say 2 p.m. is a prime time for men in the county to scan sexual services websites.

BEST started in 2012, training hotel employees to spot and report signs of sex trafficking at their businesses.
