FEDERAL WAY — A 44-year-old man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for fatally shooting his ex-wife in March 2010 during a counseling session at a Federal Way church.
Prosecutors said Charles Parsons of Lakewood wanted to reconcile with 38-year-old Carol Parsons.
During the session at Calvary Lutheran Church, court documents say Parsons asked his former wife if she would leave her boyfriend. She said no.
Court documents said Parsons got up to leave the session, then pointed a gun at his former wife and fired at least six times, hitting her five times.
The man then called 911 to say what he had done and waited for officers in the parking lot.
KOMO-TV reported that Parsons entered his plea Friday. He will face a sentence range of 22 to 28½ years in prison. No sentencing date has yet been set.
The couple had three children.
