ABERDEEN — A concrete sculpture of a guitar was unveiled Tuesday in a north Aberdeen park, marking the 17th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death in Seattle.
The Daily World reports the sculpture is in a park near the Young Street bridge where he spent some time while growing up in Aberdeen.
Cobain rocketed to fame with the grunge music band Nirvana until taking his life in 1994.
The bridge attracts Cobain fans because it’s mentioned in his song “Something in the Way.”
Besides the concrete guitar, there’s a steel ribbon dangling in the air with lyrics from the Nirvana song “On a Plain” — “One more special message to go and then I’m done and I can go home.”
