BOTHELL — In 1963, then 17-year-old Sandra Lantz was asked to leave Bothell High School four months before graduation because she was pregnant.
Despite the rejection she earned her credits for a high school diploma at a private school. She later graduated from Western Washington University and earned two master’s degrees and became a social worker, author and editor.
Now married and living in Anchorage, Sandra Kleven recently returned to Bothell for her 51st class reunion.
The Seattle Times reported that she was finally given her high school diploma with pomp and circumstance.
A friend and classmate, Lynda Humphrey, dug out transcripts and worked with the Northshore School District to organize the graduation ceremony.
